About Rubric

Rubric is an open access technical journal. Everything published here has been read and assessed by other people working in the field before it appeared, and all of it is free to read in full, with no account and no paywall.

What gets published

Technical writing that makes a claim and shows its work — systems, verification, tooling, and the practice of building things that hold up. Length is not a criterion. Whether the argument can be followed and checked is.

How review works

Submissions are read by reviewers with relevant expertise, who are not contributors on the work they review. Reviewers are chosen for what they know rather than for a title: expertise is not a role, and a specialist who has never published here is often exactly the right reader.

Why it is free

Peer review is the quality gate. A payment wall is not, and adding one would only decide who gets to read work that has already been judged worth publishing.

What we store about you

Almost nothing, and none of it about you personally. The privacy policy says exactly what and why.
